I hope there’s more

I just re-read Hebrews 11. If you haven’t in a while (or ever) go check it out.
It’s a list of our Christian forefathers. Abel, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, and more. It lists their mighty deeds. Their great acts of faith. Their martyrdom.
They conquered kingdoms, administered justice, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of flames, escaped the edge of the sword, their weakness became strength, they became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released. Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. They were stoned, sawed in two, put to death by the sword, lived destitute lives, were persecuted and mistreated for the sake of God’s name.
Then 12:1 says that we should run well since we come from such a strong lineage of faithful men and women. They’ve run their leg of the race and handed the torch to us.
Now it’s our turn.
And I hope when I’m done running, when I pass the torch off to the next generation, I’ve done more than avoid R-rated movies and eat mor chikin.

I don’t get it.
Welcome home, buddy.
Yep I agree too I hope my legacy is more about than that too!
Well said! Our job as Christians is to lead others to Christ. The fact that the president of Chik-Fil-A is against gay marriage should not alter our path to lead others to Christ.
I personally think he made a public message to gain media support for his ailing restaurant and he mentioned business has more than tripled since he went public.
It is time we concentrate on our mission of winning souls for Christ and worry less about how society accepts things beyond our control.
Walk daily with God at your side!

I’m so glad we’re friends.
I second that emotion.
One of my favorite scripture verses is 1 Corinthians 9:24 – Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!
It’s easy to forget that this is a race, a battle. Playing it safe and burying our talents will not get us the prize, or inspire others to greatness.
A great challenge, Jared. Thanks!
