A practical and personal way to help today

Aug 31

Even though it didn’t get the media coverage of previous storms, Hurricane Isaac has wrecked parts of the gulf coast this week. Levees were broken, homes were flooded, lives were destroyed.

My friend and fellow blogger, Michael Perkins, is a pastor in Natchitoches, LA, which is northwest of where the storm hit, and he’s asking for help.

There are 125 people from Nazarene churches in Slidell, Kenner, and New Orleans that have been forced out of their homes, and don’t know when they’ll be able to return.

This is where you and I come in.

He’s trying to raise $2,500 to help out with food, lodging, clothes, and other expenses that these folks will incur while they’re waiting to go home. Will you please help?

This isn’t a large organization looking for large donations. This is a guy I know personally, who pastors a small church in Louisiana, who’s got a real and immediate need in his backyard. This is the internet equivalent of passing the plate for a love offering. Even if it’s just five dollars, would you please consider chipping in?

You guys are the best.

Update: The $2,500 goal has been reached, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give. Prove that there are good people on the internet, and make a contribution.
