Blank pages

Some mornings, this blogging thing is easy.
Something funny happens, or I have an interesting thought. I just sit down and hammer away at the keys, check my spelling, hit “publish” and I’m done.
But other times, it’s a little tougher. Not that it’s more laborious- there’s not a lot of sweat involved in typing. I just mean that sometimes it’s harder to fill the page with anything good.
Or anything at all.
Sometimes I just stare at the blank screen, that little cursor blinking, waiting, like an impatient finger tapping on a desk.
But I’m committed to doing this, so I know eventually I’m gonna have to post something.
It has to be done.
Words have to be written.
Similarly, some mornings, this living thing is easy.
Something exciting happens, or I have an interesting schedule. I bounce through life, having great conversations, managing projects, accomplishing goals.
But other times, it’s a little tougher. Sometimes it’s harder to fill my day with anything good.
Or anything at all.
Sometimes I stare at a blank day, the clock ticking, like an impatient acquaintance waiting for me to do something.
But I’m still alive, so I know eventually I’m gonna have to do something.
It has to be done.
Life has to be lived.

Jared, I like this! Words of wisdom.
